Looks like the Mouse is buying a Fox.

Disney is about to rule the world.

It was announced today that Disney is moving forward with the acquisition of 20th Century Fox. The deal is coming at a cost of over $52 billion. While Disney will be purchasing most of Fox's assets, some parts like Fox Broadcasting, and Fox Sports, will break off into a new company.

Of all the things that Fox will be getting, the most talked about is the suite of Marvel characters that will seemingly be coming to the MCU. It is pretty insane for a major fan like myself to imagine that we may finally get to see an X-Men vs Avengers movie, or a Spider-Man/Deadpool team-up.

But, the most important possible addition in my nerdy heart is that of the Fantastic Four, though not of the team itself, but its main villain, Dr. Doom. This dude is one of my favorite comic book characters of all time, and out of his two film interpretations, neither has done the character justice. And since Marvel's biggest problem is its lack of awesome villains, Dr. Doom can be the one that sticks around to be a thorn in every hero's side.

It has been said that after the fourth Avengers movie, the MCU will drastically change. I think we now know just how drastic that change will be. To me, the only way to really bring an entire race of mutants into the vast MCU would be to do a total reset, which happens often enough in the comics.

Besides the MCU, this deal brings a metric shit ton of other properties to Disney. From Die Hard, to Predator, to The X-Files, to The Simpsons, there's no telling how the entertain world will change with this historic acquisition.

I should point out, however, that this is not a done deal. Disney still needs to get approval from the U.S. Justice Department and its antitrust regulators. But, if the deal does happen, I just hope they take a back seat, like they seem to have been doing with Marvel and Star Wars.
